Daena Jean Carrillo Joins VFP

In August of 2021, alumni Daena Jean Carrillo returned to LSU to pursue her doctorate and joined the VFP team as a graduate assistant. Graduating in 2019 from the School of Library and Information Sciences (SLIS), Daena received a Master of Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) degree and the Graduate Certificate in Archival Studies (CARST).  She has worked on projects with the Breman Museum and as a project archivist with the Atlanta History Museum.

Daena’s doctoral studies in the Doctor of Design in Cultural Preservation program is geared towards Archival Studies.  She is also pursuing a graduate minor in Environmental Sciences.  Her area of focus and interest lies in the preservation of community-based archives from the threat of climate change in coastal Louisiana.

Joining the VFP team has special meaning to Daena, as she honors the legacy and memory of her late grandfather Dr. Sid Rosenblatt, a decorated WWII veteran and advocate with Mission United.
